Happy 4th

Have a good Fourth of July.

Celebrate 230 years of meaningful liberty and freedom.

This is a good country we've made. Thank God for it.

Hi Chris,

Seems hard to feel good about America when we have GI's going on trial for murdering an Irag family so he could rape their daughter then killing her as well. All this open for all eyes on the world stage. What a mess we've created.

Just putting things into perspective

See ya...

But isn't it great that we're outraged about it because of the standard we've set for our nation? This would have been standard practice for the Assyrian army. One of the reasons it's vital to prosecute this case is because those actions betray the very ideals for which the soldier was fighting. It's nice to have those ideals. We should remember that they only flow from the character of God.

Thanks Lindsay, for stating the obvious (and in historical context no less!) You're exactly right...if we were another country (or in another time) this would not receive the controversy it is receiving now. And it receives this controversy because it stands in stark contrast to what we do stand for, and what (by and large) our troops accomplish throughout the world on a day to day basis.

This is an perverse truth I have noticed...somehow, by trying to stand for good things, people have come to think we believe we're perfect and can do no wrong (and hate us for their perceptions of us). In reality, I have always thought that one of our greatest strengths was the inherant understanding that we CAN do wrong and aren't perfect and that's a large part of why our government is structured the way it is...to protect us from fallen men...because you cannot give people unlimited freedoms, and neither can you live under a dictator. Hence Republic.

Yeah...never said this was a perfect country...just a darn good one.

I realized that I might have sounded sarcastic about stating the obvious...I wasn't. I appreciated your willingness to point out what I considered an obvious truth in response to "."

Thanks Lindsay.
